Morning All,
So just who is Broke Ass Mum.........that my dears would be Me.
My name is Sam, or Samantha if you want to be pedantic. Im 32 years old and I reside just outside Swansea, in South Wales, UK. I seriously think I'm meant to be living in the Yukon or Alaska in a cabin somewhere as I love all those types of shows. I'm attempting to garden as best I can but slugs in Wales are just ridiculous so that's my next challenge. I love learning about rationing/ World War, and love trying old recipes. I'm a home cook and baker.....I wish I had more time to read and writing to Penpals. I also have a slight list making obsession and have various notebooks everywhere. I work in a well known high street catalogue shop.....I did a Christmas temp job and was invited back - Im currently on a 6 hour contract but I don't work any less than 10 and with Christmas coming I will be having extra hours. Oh and I like doing competitions and writing reviews..... :-) I also have anxiety and suffer from a horrid inner ear condition called Labyrinthitis......oh the joys!
I live with my husband Ow (aka Ogwen) who I married 2 years ago this September but we have been together for 14 years this September 1st :-) He works selling tools and machinery. Hes obsessed with motorbikes and currently has an addiction to Farm Simulator 2015..... most women are football / rugby / F1 and even Golf widows ---- me, my man likes to ride tractors around a pretend farm and raise pretend cows.....are you jealous yet? Although to his credit hes a good dad, works bloody hard and is excellent at procrastinating when it comes to DIY. Oh, and hes bearded and has tattoos :-) so hes not too bad to look at either in my opinion. He also liked photography and has taken some beautiful pictures. Hes teaching me at the minute about aperture and exposure - see do I sound like I know what Im talking about?
Next comes our offspring.....now I should explain - you will hear me talk about 3 kids but 2 will probably be mentioned more often.
So firstly there is the Boy (also referred to as Dude) - hes 12. Hes in secondary school and currently 'finding his own personality'.....he tended to follow the other kids but seems to be becoming his own person now hes growing up.....he loves drawing, ain't too bad a little cook, can kick a ball in a straight line and is usually found watching YouTube. Hes currently being talked into learning a trade as a future job by his father and Grandad since he told them his ideal job was to become a YouTuber.....
Second is the Minx (also referred to as Girly) - Shes 6....and currently terrorising her primary school. She use to be very much a Tom Boy when she was younger, but has done a complete 360 and is now very much into pink, unicorns, dolls, nail polish, sparkles etc. Again shes a crafty little one and can usually be found cutting stuff up and gluing them everywhere. Shes happy baking and being my helper. Shes pretty much my shadow and she is my spitting image. Oh and she loves Music, we are currently listening to One Directions album on loop.....or Meghan Trainor.....
Lastly is J. He is the illusive third child. He is my step son (I should add The Boy and The Minx are his half siblings) and lives with his mother not too far from our house. Me, his mother and his father have a 'talk when we have to' relationship. He has currently just competed Year 10 at school and got all D's on his exams but he has had a hard year. His mother married a man he doesn't particularly like, hes not keen on his new step sister, and he came out to me and his father as Gay / Gender Fluid a few months back. Hes also suffering from anxiety and depression and we have gotten him into a psychiatrist with the help of CAMHS (Children & Adolescents Mental Health Services here in the UK). Besides the few hurdles we are helping him over - he is an amazing writer. He really has a talent for it and usually writes under an alter ego......He did recently come 2nd in a Young Writers Awards for Short Stories on WattPad where he posts. I'm very proud of him - even though hes not biologically mine
(L-R ---- J, Ogwen, The Minx and The Dude , I am behind the camera taking the picture)
Right so that's the childlets sorted. Who else?
Ah Muttley's.....we have 2. Both rescue dogs.
My male is called Bruno. Hes 17 and came from Llanelli Dogs Home....Hes a JRT - he didn't get the memo that his life expectancy is only 12-15 years and he is a walking garbage can. This dog seriously must have 9 lives - the things hes done and eaten...I'm not sure how he made it to 17. He is very much MY dog. He is thick as thieves with The Boy.
Our bitch is called Mabel. Im not even sure what breed she is - part Border Terrier, Part Staff, Part Fox, Part Banshee? Ive no idea but she looks like a terrier. She was left outside my old work in a horrible condition but we will cover that a different day. She is an escape artist and finds it more fun if you chase her but as soon as you turn your back to leave her she realises shes pushed it too far. Although she has a horrid fear of other dogs....and shrieks like a banshee. Its not even funny - its not even a growl, woof, bark - its a scream.....but there's no aggression behind it and if you stop to talk she relaxes. Yet she is fine with our male but I think that's due to him being here when we rescued her. She is Ogwen's dog and I don't get a look in until she he leaves. She adores the kids though.
(Bruno is in the jumper, Mabel is the one snoozing!)
I think that's pretty much my household, bar 9 fish. Little tetras which I was given when my friends tank got over crowded. They don't have names though.
So thats my little household in a nutshell so you are officially welcomed to my madhouse! and I hope you enjoy the adventures that we are having!
